  • The Gentle Body Tarot for Sacred Wellness Readings

I came across this deck on Kickstarter earlier in the year and because I specialize in wellness readings, I thought it would be a great addition to my ever expanding Tarot Collection.

I’ve been in a very low buy stage of my collecting journey and only looking more unique decks that support the types of readings I focus on. I loved that this deck maps the Majors to various organs or systems in the body and the Minors show the movement of energy through the body.

This totally aligns with my work as a healer and bodyworker and I felt this deck would be a great addition and a staple for Sacred Wellness Readings.

However, I feel the quality of the deck didn’t warrant the price. I also didn’t appreciate that there’s only a digital guidebook, but still felt a call to this deck and decided that I would give the Gentle Body Tarot a try.

Once it was quiet and I had time, I opened up the package and explored the cards. I am still fascinated by the deck and the way it connects Tarot to the body. It will be fun to explore if their associations match mine and to learn new ways of using divination for wellness and energy readings.

I went through my process of connecting and cleansing the deck after putting the cards and suits in order, then programmed the deck to be used for Sacred Wellness Readings. To get started working with the cards, I’m going to do an interview, using this spread.

Since I know the purpose of this deck I’m going to do a shorter version.

Interviewing the Gentle Body Tarot

Deck Interview Spread
  1. Introduce Yourself – Four of Wands – Stability
  2. What are your strengths? – Ten of Wands – Overload
  3. What are your limitations? – Hermit
  4. What’s the best way to connect with you? – Three of Pentacles
  5. How do you work with other decks? – Six of Cups
  6. How can we work together to deliver powerful Sacred Wellness Alchemy™ readings? – Two of Wands

I like that most of the cards are Minors, meaning we’ll be working with how energy is flowing through the body! That makes so much sense for the somatic work that I do! And there are a majority of Wands. This suit represents Fire in a traditional deck and in the Gentle Body Tarot, Wands are associated with the Endocrine System.

That has a lot to do with hormone regulation which tells the body what to do. I think that’s super interesting because there are so many hormone disruptors being found in foods and when our hormones are off, it affects everything!

The Four of Wands represents stability, grounding, and balance. It shows energy being brought down and integrated. This deck helps to ground energy, provide or find stability within, and provided guidance in building support and stability.

Strength of the deck being overload is so aligned! Burnout, pressure, and fatigue are at an all time high. So many people have fried nervous system and it shows. The Ten of Wands is about built up stress and strain. This creates disharmony within and this deck helps you in releasing what you no longer need to carry.

The more I read these cards, the more I am loving and appreciating that I acquired this deck. It’s literally the most aligned deck for my readings. I can’t wait to pair it with my other body based decks to see what magic and healing happens.

Seeing the Hermit as limitations was so interesting. I feel like this deck doesn’t want or need to work alone. The body, mind, and soul are all connected. The Hermit is associated with the eye and inner wisdom. As an intuitive, it’s important that I trust my intuition when working with clients.

One thing is for sure Tarot, just like any other tool or resource cannot make you look within.

This is something I’ve encountered with clients I’ve worked with. I can show them the way and explain what’s happening, but if they don’t go within to do the work, they won’t get better. It’s important that we each learn ourselves and our bodies, and not blindly trust what’s given to us.

I feel also this deck isn’t here for giving spiritual readings, it’s really centered on the body, which is fine because I have other decks for different types of readings.

Even though the Pentacles look like brains to me, it actually represents the Skeletal system and tissues within the body that represent support and structure. Building is what came up for the best way to connect. I feel this is building a relationship with the deck by working with it. The more I use it and incorporate it into my work, the deeper our connection.

When it comes to working with other decks, remembrance and reflection come up with the Six of Cups. This card typically represents memories, past connections, or childhood. I feel that in combination with other decks more information will resurface and they will speak to each other like old friends.

Looking at the artwork on the card it appears like wisdom being dropped down and radiating out. I also feel this would be great for understanding the past and energetic roots of physical issues.

The final message is from the Two of Wands, as to how we can work together to deliver Sacred Wellness Alchemy™ Readings. This card represents direction, focus, planning, and awareness. Helping myself and others choose direction with clarity and purpose. it speaks of the moment after ignition when energy is split into possible paths.

Helping clients see possibilities for healing, growth, and wellness and choosing where to focus movement and energy. This is about helping direct potential into aligned action for beautiful and impactful outcomes.

I am so pleased with this deck. The quality could be improved upon, but it didn’t miss in the impact or purpose at all! I will be working with this and my other body-based decks more to deepen my connection with them and to integrate them into all aspects of my work.
